This grade was developed as a hybrid of the traditional 3% and
5% Chromium alloy. It has excellent properties for both Work
Rolls and Intermediate rolls in all types of Ferrous and
non-ferrous application. The product characteristics that
dictate enhanced roll performance (microstructure, depth of
hardness and residual stress) are optimised by the full coil
static induction hardening method that is unique to Union
Electric Steel Corporation. To meet customer specifications,
grade 4CRMO can be melted using either the electric are furnace,
vacuum degassed, bottom poured of ESR (electro slag remelt)
ingot process.
